Sin
We believe that sin is what separates us from God. Sin is the selfish way to respond to life, coming from living independently of God and choosing to fulfill our own emptiness through our own efforts rather than trusting that Jesus is enough. Sin, by definition, is any way we miss the mark. It' when we fall short of God's design for us to love Him with all our heart and to love our neighbor as ourselves. This includes not only wrong actions but also wrong attitudes: pride, anger, selfishness, and any disposition contrary to Christ's character of love. Sin is best identified and defined through the Holy Scriptures and the conviction of the Holy Spirit. Yet God's grace is greater than our sin. Through faith in Jesus Christ, we are not only forgiven but can be freed from sin's power in this life as we are transformed by the Holy Spirit into people who love God and others with pure hearts.
